Ride Rules, Conditions & Safety Tips
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
- In consideration of my entry in the 2025 Central South Island Charity Bike Ride, I agree to abide by the Event Rules and conditions of entry and I understand that participation in the event is at my own risk and I accept full responsibility for ensuring the necessary skills are obtained to negotiate hazards and ensure safe cycling etiquette.
- I am in sound physical condition, capable of competing safely in this event and am not aware of any Medical condition to the contrary.
- I understand that I am required to attend at least three training rides – one of these must be prior to Christmas. Failure to do this will result in the Organizers withdrawing me from the ride. Any deviation from this will be at the sole discretion of the Ride Coordinator.
- In my judgement, I have sufficient competence and experience to participate in this ride.
- I understand that the Event Organizers reserve the right to alter or change the event route due to safety or other issues of concern.
- I will comply with all directions as outlined on the Conditions of Entry, Event Rules, and at the pre race briefing.
- I will follow the directions given by the Event Organizers, Group Leaders or other persons designated by the Organizers
- I understand that the Event Organizers have the right to refuse entry to the event or exclude any person whose behaviour is a threat to safety during the ride.
- I will be totally responsible for my personal belongings during the event.
- I understand that all roads must be treated as open to traffic at all times and all road rules must be observed
- By participating in this event, I accept any risk that could result in loss of life or permanent injury or damage to property.
- I hereby release and exempt the Event Organisers, Sponsors and other persons and organisations who are directly or indirectly associated with the Event, from all actions, proceedings, demands, costs, expenses and claims arising out of my participation.
- I hereby indemnify them against all liability for all injury, loss or damage that may eventuate by me in the course of my participation in this event.
EVENT RULES
- Road Rules: The entire event is on open public roads, so obey all road rules and keep as far to the left as practicable.
- Helmets: All riders must wear NZSS approved helmets.
- Support Vehicles: only support vehicles authorized by the Event Organizers are to travel with the riders. Any unauthorized support vehicles on the road or among the riders will result in their rider being withdrawn from the ride.
- Riders must not pass the lead vehicle at any stage, unless advised by your Group Leader.
- Group Leaders and Support Vehicle Crew are there to support your safety. Any instructions, advice or guidance by them must be adhered to.
- Medical: Riders take responsibility for informing the Event Organizers of any medical conditions that could put you or others at risk. In the event that you sustain an injury, you consent to the Medical Personnel performing and/or administering the appropriate treatment deemed necessary. The Medical team has the right to remove a rider if they have concerns about their health and well being.
- Do not ride more than two abreast at any time.
- Vehicles are not bike stands, please don't lean your bike on any vehicle.
- All bikes and helmets are to be checked and signed off pre-ride.
Each rider must raise a minimum of $500 in donations for the 2025 Charities/Groups
