In 2009 the route was reversed so everyone was excited to be going the other way!!!

All started out well with the ride to Tekapo completed in beautiful weather even going up Burke’s Pass was ok.
On arrival at The Tekapo Army Barracks we were met with a road block complete with barbed wire and sandbags, army personnel in full camouflage gear with GUNS!!!
We knew we were in for a good time
The night in Tekapo was great with good food; good music and good company what more could you want!!!

OH NO!!……. the next morning we awoke to rain but you just can’t stop keen cyclists who just donned their wet weather gear and off they went heading to Kurow.
Rain, rain and more rain we had never had rain like this for the Charity Bike ride all were hoping it would stop but the forecast was not good.

The next morning it was even wetter and there was talk there were roads that were flooded, most waited to see if they could ride!!!!! They were a hardy bunch!!!!!
What a wonderful group of organisers!! We had hot soup in Twizel, towels to dry us in Waimate and still it rained.
We rode through water on some roads but most riders just didn’t want to give up and we rode into Timaru wet, but very proud of our achievements
