The Central South Island Charity Bike Ride was born following participation by the organizers, Phil Laurie & Morrell McFetrich in a similar event in Australia raising money for Child Cancer Research.
The realization occurred that this was a fund raising activity that not only enabled funds to be raised but was also an opportunity to motivate people, to focus on fitness, exercise, fun and maybe a change in lifestyle, thus increasing health and well being in the workforce and local community.
The aim is to support and raise awareness for small South Canterbury groups/organizations who constantly struggle for funding so that they can continue to provide valuable services to local people.
